Home Ownership Pre-Qualification Form General Eligibility Criteria Please be advised that answers to all questions to the best of your ability is required. Please note that the following criteria are essential for becoming a homeowner at Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast. You are a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident. YesNo You have guardianship and are a primary caregiver of at least one child aged 10 or younger, or a child with a severe disability under the age of 16 who could not live alone. YesNoN/A Willingness to Partner One of the three main criteria for Habitat Sunshine Coast's Homeownership Program is Willingness to Partner. Once an applicant family is accepted to the Homeownership Program they become a 'Future Homeowner and will be required to act as 'Ambassadors' of Habitat Sunshine Coast, which may include speaking to the press, having their family photographed for promotional material and attending public events. Becoming a Habitat Sunshine Coast Homeowner means that you are agreeing to partner with Habitat for Humanity on an ongoing basis for as long as you own the home. This essentially means that, for a variety of possible reasons, your home is not suitable or is unsafe. Families living in substandard housing are given preference. Size and Suitability Matching families to available homes is one of the challenges of our program. After looking at the income eligibility of interested families, we then look at the make-up of the family to determine how many bedrooms would be required. We follow the same criteria as BC Housing in determining a suitable size home for a family: - Children must have a separate bedroom from adults. - A maximum of two children may share a single bedroom - Children sharing a bedroom must be the same gender. - At least one family member per bedroom. One of the three main criteria for the Homeownership Program is the Ability to Pay the no-interest mortgage and home maintenance costs.
